A federal appeals court ruling has just reinstated the upcoming reporting deadlines under the Corporate Transparency Act (“CTA”) and, in response, the government has granted a short extension of the December 31 filing deadline – to January 13, 2025 – for reporting companies created or registered before 2024.

The CTA is now (again) in effect and requires many U.S. entities to disclose their beneficial ownership information to FinCEN (the Financial Enforcement Network, a bureau of the Treasury Department).  For pre-2024 entities covered by the CTA that have not yet completed this disclosure reporting, the deadline is less than three weeks away.
