Ivins Attorneys Speak to ABA Business Law Section on Employee Benefits
PDFBenjamin L. Grosz was chair and moderator of the panel entitled “Employee Benefit Basics for Business Attorneys” at the ABA Business Law Section’s 2015 Spring Meeting. Ben was joined on the panel by Ivins partner Steven H. Witmer, as well as co-panelists Lacy Durham (Deloitte) and Jeannie Leahy (formerly in-house benefits counsel at Hewlett Packard, Boeing, and Northrop Grumman). The panel covered a range of topics and discussed related best practices for businesses.
Issues discussed included ERISA, qualified retirement plans, health and welfare plans, fiduciary duties and liabilities, the Affordable Care Act (ACA), HIPAA, COBRA, executive compensation (including 409A) & fringe benefits, and benefits issues in M&A. The panel was presented jointly by the Employee Benefits and Executive Compensation Committee and the Young Lawyer Committee, and was included as part of the Business Section’s 2015 Young Lawyer Institute.
